Sandburg Men’s Soccer Stopped by Morton 3-0

Morton scored a pair of first-half goals and went on to shut out the Carl Sandburg College men’s soccer team 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers took a 2-0 lead into the break behind goals from Bryan Chaidez (26th minute) and Aldo Vasquez (35th minute), then added an insurance tally in the 82nd minute from Adrian Barrera.

The Chargers (3-4-2 overall, 1-4-2 Region IV) were held to just three shots on goal, with two coming from Kevin Murillo (Miami, Fla./Sports Leadership & Management).

Leonardo Amorim (Sanata Catarina, Brazil/Colegio Catarinese Florianopolis) made nine first-half saves for Sandburg. Felipe Petry (Barao, Brazil/Instituto Estadul de Educacao) came in for the second half and made 11 saves.

The Chargers travel for another Region IV contest at 4 p.m. Monday against Kennedy-King.
